"These characters are two of many that will be revealed in a 3D rendered comic book series I am now writing. The sculpture of the hero character was completed in 8 hours. The digitizing with the MicroScribe was completed using Hi-res software in about 4 hours. Hires is a great software for digitizing because it has many flexible features. The head was digitized using the radial method of spline generation. The splines were then imported into Maya, where they were edited slightly and lofted into the surface shown. At this point only slight texturing has been done, this model will require more texturing for the final result to be achieved. The reptilian insectoid creature was sculpted in 3 days and digitized with the MicroScribe in 8 hours. The tail of the creature was sculpted much shorter than that of what I saw in my mind's eye because of the size limitation of my oven! After it was digitized using the MicroScribe and Hires software, I scaled out the tail to the correct length in Maya. At this time, this creature has not been textured."Case Study Gallery - Maya
