Typical Set up for Physical Anthropologist

The Immersion MicroScribe G2 and M series MicroScribe 3D Digitizers is a benchmark in morphometric data collection.  Physical anthropologist can now collect landmark data by simply moving the MicroScribe  stylus tip to the landmark location and triggering the devise  This data is transferred to the host platform (PC or Mac) via USB cable and can be imported into any program for further analysis to include 3D Spatial Reconstruction.

The MicroScribe System weighs in just over 13 pounds, this system is portable and can easily be carried from lab to museum or to the field. In fact the G2 series has a unique advantage of using the 5 mv power supplied from the USB port thus data can be collected in the field using only the battery power from the laptop  The digitizer requires no stand or mount and can sit on the same surface as the specimen.

The G2 transmits data to the computer using the provided MUS Software.  Simply choose the file type to export to (AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, etc) and either press a button on the handheld pager or foot pedal and the data appears in the target application.  Several data formats are included and can program custom strings to fit whatever program desired to capture data to.

we have recently developed a plug in for the Rhino software that will allow you to collect ordered points and export them with labels.  This is a great way to gather landmark data in a visual environment giving you confidence on data placement
